Sentencian a comediante egipcio por ofensa a islam

CAIRO (AP) — Uno de los comediantes egipcios más populares en el mundo árabe fue sentenciado a tres meses de cárcel por ofender al islam, dijo un juez.

El juez confirmó que Adel Imam fue condenado en ausencia por "difamar el islam". Se desconoce su paradero.

El sitio web en inglés de Ahran, operado por el estado, reporta que el comediante fue hallado culpable por una película de 2007 en la que interpreta a un empresario corrupto y una obra de 1998 sobre un dictador árabe. Otros reportes indican que el tribunal rechazó su uso de símbolos islámicos.

El juez no proporcionó detalles. Dijo el jueves que Imam puede apelar. Habló a condición de anonimato porque no estaba autorizado a proveer información a reporteros.
